Accelerating Deployment with Multiple Staging Environments

Problem to solve: For this AI Assistant product (Watson Assistant), our enterprise-level customers gave us repeated feedback that the lack of staging environments was delaying their deployment of the assistant. The risk to the business was that our best customers could leave for another product that met their needs.

Solution: Following a design thinking workshop to align on concepts, our team created multiple staging environments (3) which could be added, deleted, and modified. We also established a new design pattern and visual assets for deploying versions of the AI assistant, which had touchpoints throughout the product.

Impact: The addition of this feature into Watson Assistant retained several enterprise-level customers with collective annual billings upwards of $25M
